Al-Madeenah ‘Al-Munawwarah’ or ‘An-Nabawiyyah’ |
| Reference: ‘Almajmoo’ the biography of Al-‘Allaamah Hammaad bin Muhammad Al-Ansaaree, Volume 2, page 548, saying no: 434. |

Shaykh ‘Abdul-Baree said that he heard his father, the Muhaddith of Madeenah, Al-‘Allaamah Hammaad bin Muhammad Al-Ansaaree[1] may Allaah have mercy upon him saying:
I investigated the reason why people refer to Al-Madeenah as Al-Madeenah Al-Munawwarah, i.e. [The illuminated city] in this period of time. I discovered that the very first ones that referred to ‘Al-Madeenah’ as ‘Al-Madeenah Al-Munawwarah’ were the Ottomans [2] .
However, the companions of the Messenger of Allaah, may Allaah be pleased with them all, their successors & those who came after them for many centuries would say Al-Madeenah An-Nabawiyyah, i.e. [The Prophetic city].

any of you coming for hajj this year insha’Allah? let me tell you, it’s crazy busy around here masha’Allah. businesses are booming making extra profits on the hujjaj, and the general khutub around are geared towards reminding the residents to be more courteous of you all coming in. which is great and we need more of these points made. the sheeyookh are mentioning the sincerity factor that gets ignored in regards to jacking up prices, as everyone hujjaj and us non-hujjaj
are gearing up for the 1st 10 days of dhul-hijjah. the other night at masjid an-nabawi was ironic because 5 minutes away from there you wouldn’t know it’s hajj season as the city was somewhat calm, then all of sudden the haram is in clear sight and people are climbing over each other to cross the streets, masha’Allah, then once again there was a serene sence in the parking garage of the Prophet’s Mosque below. We have a pass my husband bought, it would make sense seeing that most hujjaj or people in Madinah coming for ziyara are without cars. anyways, back to my point which was…hmm?
check out this article below, although it describes Makkah, maybe you can get a sense of whats happening here in Madinah (obviously on a smaller scale-but still probably pretty large).
Makkah’s Bustling!

then there are the checkpoints surrounding the entrances into Makkah. 69 they say! People are desperate to be at the center of the universe this hajj season. So if they can get in by sneaking in, some will try! Ironic, don’t you think? 20 illegal dirtroads found by the Ministry of Hajj! Most people who don’t live here may not realize that being here in Saudi does not guarantee you hajj. In fact expats are only allowed once in 5 years from the time they are issued their visas and same call for your typical Saudi who lives here. So if my husband were to go this year, I can forget him being my mahram for the next few years. Speaking of mahrams and hajj, a woman under the age of 45 will not be given permission for hajj unless she has one- a mahram. Forget about a group of females, still not happening.
if you are coming from Egypt, then they might scrutinize you even more. People from different cultures have sterotypes which may or may not be based on truth, and Egyptians have been called on for not being as honest in many levels here in KSA, and I will leave it at that. No offense, because I myself am an American Egyptian and my family is from Egypt with most of them living there. Having said that, the unfortunate reality here are crimes that happen here in the holy cities. No place is completely free of sin except Jannah. (May Allah send us all there). This is not to belittle the best places on Earth of Makkah and Madinah. Just mentioning this so if you are coming insha’Allah, you need to be careful with your belongings and such, and as I mentioned before especially with your shoes!!
Don’t be naieve and think that everyone is sincere-although insha’Allah most have ikhlaas for Allah subhana’watala. May Allah accept it and forgive me if I’ve fallen into error with this precaution.

all good related is from Allah and all negativities are from my ownself, don’t judge Islam through me judge it through the Quran and Sunnah…and Allah Knows what we don’t and He is the one who guides, Allah Alone Knows Best and may Allah send His Mercy and Blessings upon our beloved Nabi Rasullilah..
